editOn July 1, 2026, GMA Pictures released the film's first teaser poster across its official social media platforms. The poster features the profile of a young boy illuminated by a golden sunset while wearing an ornate plaid-accented headpiece. Accompanying the teaser was the caption, "He sees a little more magic than the rest of us. Meet him soon," suggesting that the film's young protagonist possesses a supernatural ability.[2] On July 7, Amir was officially announced as one of the first four entries to the 52nd Metro Manila Film Festival during the festival's kickoff event held at GH Mall in San Juan City.[3] The film's lead actor, Argus Aspiras, accepted the festival's plaque of participation on behalf of the production alongside GMA Pictures supervising producer JC Rubio.[2]
The film is helmed by director Zig Dulay, who previously helmed past award-winning MMFF entries Firefly (2023) and Green Bones (2024), and written by screenwriters Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza from a story by Ian Simbulan.[2]
