Alonement is a form of intentional solitude. [1][2][3] The term was coined in 2019 by Francesca Specter.[4]

Alonement space

An alonement space is a designated area within a modern office designed for individual uninterrupted work and solitude.[5] The spaces are akin to smoke break areas. [6] Alonement spaces are a response to the rise of open plan offices.[7]
