It was a football tie held over two legs in November 1973 and December 1973 between Asante Kotoko of Ghana, and AS Vita Club of Zaïre.

1 Mighty Jets were forced to withdraw as they could not afford the cost of travel to Zaire for the first leg.
Format
editThe final was played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. If the sides were level on aggregate after the second leg, the away goals rule was applied, and if still level, the tie proceeded directly to a penalty shoot-out (no extra time was played).
