- 23 April – Icelandic composer Sveinbjörn Sveinbjörnsson marries his Scottish wife, Eleanor.[2]
- October – In Berlin, on his way to Vienna, Jean Sibelius meets two other young Scandinavian composers, Carl Nielsen and Armas Järnefelt.[3]
