Emircan Haney (born 1 January 2001 in Muğla) is a Turkish archer who competes in the compound bow discipline. He represents the Turkey national team and Muğla Büyükşehir Belediyesi Sports Club.[1][2] He won the men's individual compound title at the 2025 Archery World Cup Final and became European champion in the same event at the 2026 European Archery Championships.[3][4] He also won an individual bronze medal at the 2023 European Games and several team and mixed team medals at European championships.[5][6]

editIn 2022, Haney won a silver medal in the men's team compound event with Demir Elmaağaçlı and Furkan Oruç at the 2022 European Indoor Archery Championships in Laško, Slovenia.[7] At the 2022 European Archery Championships in Munich, Germany, he won the men's team compound title with Batuhan Akçaoğlu and Yakup Yıldız. Turkey defeated the Netherlands 238–230 in the final.[8][9] At the same championships, he won a bronze medal in the mixed team compound event with Yeşim Bostan, after Turkey defeated Belgium 156–155 in the bronze medal match.[10][8] In the third stage of the 2022 Archery World Cup in Paris, he won a silver medal in the men's team compound event with Akçaoğlu and Yıldız.[11] At the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, he won bronze in the men's individual compound and gold in the mixed team compound event with Yeşim Bostan Uçar.[12][13]
In 2023, Haney won a bronze medal in the men's team compound event with Batuhan Akçaoğlu and Yakup Yıldız at the second stage of the Archery World Cup in Shanghai, China.[11] At the 2023 European Games in Kraków, Poland, he won the bronze medal in the men's individual compound event. He defeated Nicolas Girard of France 147–141 in the quarter-finals, lost to Jozef Bosansky of Slovakia 147–145 in the semi-finals, and defeated Łukasz Przybylski of Poland 149–146 in the bronze medal match.[5][14]
In 2024, Haney won a silver medal in the men's team compound event with Batuhan Akçaoğlu and Yağız Sezgin at the 2024 European Archery Championships in Essen, Germany. At the same championships, he won bronze in the mixed team compound event with Hazal Burun.[15] At the second stage of the 2024 Archery World Cup in Yecheon, South Korea, he won silver in the men's team compound event with Akçaoğlu and Sezgin.[16][11] In the third stage of the 2024 World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, he again won silver in the men's team compound event.[17][18]
In 2025, Haney won bronze in the men's individual compound event at the third stage of the Archery World Cup in Antalya. At the same event, he also won silver in the men's team compound event with Batuhan Akçaoğlu and Yağız Sezgin.[19][20] At the fourth stage of the 2025 Archery World Cup in Madrid, Spain, he won silver in the men's individual compound event. He defeated Quentin Croes, Julio Alfredo Barillas Aragón, Michea Godano, Mathias Fullerton and Ajay Scott in the elimination rounds before losing 146–144 to Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands in the final.[21] At the 2025 Archery World Cup Final in Nanjing, China, Haney won gold in the men's individual compound event. He defeated Nicolas Girard of France 147–146 in the quarter-finals and Mike Schloesser in a shoot-off in the semi-finals, before beating Mathias Fullerton of Denmark 149–148 in the final.[3][22][23]
In 2026, Haney was selected as World Archery's 2025 archer of the year in a public vote.[24] At the first stage of the 2026 Archery World Cup in Puebla, Mexico, he won silver in the men's team compound event with Batuhan Akçaoğlu and Eren Kırca. Turkey defeated Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals and Mexico in the semi-finals, before losing 233–230 to Colombia in the final.[25][26] At the second stage of the World Cup in Shanghai, China, he won gold in the men's team compound event with Akçaoğlu and Yağız Sezgin. Turkey defeated the United States 234–231 in the final. At the same stage, he won silver in the mixed team compound event with Hazal Burun.[27][28]
At the 2026 European Archery Championships in Antalya, Haney won the men's individual compound title. He ranked fifth in the qualification round with 710 points and defeated Matus Durny Jr., Lorenzo Gubbini, Reginald Kools and Simon Moritz in the elimination rounds. In the final, he tied 147–147 with Przemysław Konecki of Poland and won the title 10–9 in the shoot-off.[6][4][29] At the same championships, he won a bronze medal in the men's team compound event with Batuhan Akçaoğlu and Yağız Sezgin. Turkey defeated Denmark 238–234 in the bronze medal match.[6][29]
