Comment: Does not meet notability guidelines for an author. Most sources are trivial mentions--the only in-depth coverage of Bleiweiss is the Gig Harbor Now piece. His book series has slightly more coverage than him as a person, but I'm not sure there's enough there for an article; the reviews seem to be mostly plot summary. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 02:20, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
Comment: Not many more sources than two declines ago, when it was declined for non-notability. Somepinkdude (talk) 00:10, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Needs more reliable, secondary sources. See WP:RS. BenTanXiaoMing (talk) 12:41, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
Rick Bleiweiss is an American author and former music and publishing executive. He worked in the music industry in executive roles before later joining Blackstone Publishing, where he worked in business development and audiobook-related projects. He is the author of the Pignon Scorbion mystery novels, beginning with Pignon Scorbion & the Barbershop Detectives.
Career
editMusic industry
editIn 1989, the Los Angeles Times quoted Bleiweiss as vice president of sales and marketing at Island Records in an article about the musician Phranc.[1] A 2025 profile in Gig Harbor Now describes his earlier work in the music business, including executive roles and work with record labels and artists.[2]
In 1990, the music industry trade publication HITS reported that Bleiweiss had been named senior vice president of sales and distribution at Arista Records.[3]
Publishing and audiobooks
editBleiweiss later joined Blackstone Publishing. In 2013, the Los Angeles Times reported on Blackstone’s production of audiobook editions of novels by Gabriel García Márquez and noted Bleiweiss’s involvement in the project.[4]
Fiction
editBleiweiss’s debut novel, Pignon Scorbion & the Barbershop Detectives, was published in 2022. The book was reviewed by Kirkus Reviews and was listed among notable mystery debuts by Publishers Weekly.[5][6]
A second novel in the series, Murder in Haxford, was released in 2023 and was reviewed by Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, and Publishers Weekly.[7][8][9]
In 2022, Deadline reported that First Wind Film Development had optioned television rights to the Pignon Scorbion & the Barbershop Detectives series.[10]
