Frank E. Serio (born May 31st, 1928) is a United States Army officer and a brigadier general who served in numerous high-level diplomatic positions and commanded the 1st Infantry Division in the Vietnam War.

Early Life
editSerio was born in Revere, Massachusetts. He was a Field Artillery Officer commissioned on July 9, 1951, from Officer Candidate School Class AOC 31. In 1951 he married Jean Elizabeth Keating Serio. They raised 6 children and remained married for 63 years until Jean's passing in 2014.
Military career
editSerio's career spanned significant global conflicts and strategic roles including tenure as a Presidential Appointee and Deputy Commissioner[1] of the SALT Standing Consultative Commission, a diplomatic role where he contributed to strategic arms limitation efforts and policy discussions between the United States and the Soviet Union.
Serio served in other high-level positions including Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations at Allied Forces Central Europe (AFCENT)[2] during the Cold War, a position central to NATO's operational planning, in addition to staff roles at the Pentagon and the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Awards
editHe was inducted into the Officer Candidate School (OCS) Alumni Hall of Fame in 2002.
