Is paper a textile?
editHello all, excited to join my first WikiProject! While I do intend on involving myself with the full scope of textile arts articles, I want to propose that Paper and its eponymous category be taken under this project's wing. Paper is a non-woven mesh of natural fibers, so it does fit under the definition of textiles. More importantly to Wikipedia, however, is that paper has no real WikiProject. I believe this WikiProject has the proper scope to focus on paper, versus a generalist WP like Materials.
I am unfamiliar with the process of expanding wikiproject scope, so please let me know! chickenpox4dinner (talk) 17:46, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
- Do you have heavyweight references that paper is regarded as a textile? It seems unlikely to me. If Wikiprojects have "wings" these days, they are very weak ones, so I doubt much useful purpose would be served if it were included. Johnbod (talk) 00:40, 18 October 2025 (UTC)
