Fix stripe and bg color in dark mode

edit

Please replace with the sandbox version, which unfortunately has to introduce specificity and !important. Since this is a templatestyles change, every single box at TM:Ambox/testcases has the new, sandbox styles; please compare https://web.archive.org/web/20250729115619/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Ambox/testcases . The tests look like an improvement to me. Thanks for including the archive.org link, which shows the side stripes in gray instead of the desired colors. Since this request is so new, I will leave this open for a day or two for other template editors to examine or implement. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:19, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done (Jonesey95, the page is full protected and you're not an admin so you couldn't do it yourself). * Pppery * it has begun... 00:01, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
eraser Undone Since this request seems to have caused Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Coptic identity: Maintenance template has extra orange stripe. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:38, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I would also prefer not to fix this now even ignoring the broken, see particularly phab:T365330 as part of MediaWiki talk:Common.css/to do#Dark mode: metadata. Dropping !importants on stuff really is not nice in the slightest and the appropriate fix is for upstream to adjust. Izno (talk) 02:49, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Andddd I'd also guess the importants may impact mobile hacking at how amboxes are presented. IOW this is a bad change. Izno (talk) 03:37, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Got it, I've filed Phab:T401872 for removing the !important-s instead since I couldn't find a template that needed it. Aaron Liu (talk) 22:04, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Category:Article message templates with missing parameters applied in a way that appears not to match the documentation

edit

At Template:Not a test, the category Category:Article message templates with missing parameters is applied, even though |subst= is present in the template. Is there are a problem with {{Not a test}}, a problem with the Module code, or a problem with the category description? Or something else? – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:30, 23 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Module:Message box wants all three mentioned parameters to be present: see function setTemplateCategories. Template:Not a test has |subst=, but it is missing |issue= and |fix=.
As per the description of the category, one or more of the listed parameters are not used by Template:Not a test, so the template is in it.
Does this change to the category description help: Special:Diff/1188371801/1318463854? —andrybak (talk) 01:06, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I don't know why these would all be required, but I have updated the documentation. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:35, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Mobile view shows two arrows going in different directions instead of the intended icon

edit

An editor pointed out at Template talk:AI-generated#Template-protected edit request on 6 March 2026 that when you look at Foreign relations of Finland in mobile view, the amboxes show two orange arrows going in different directions as icons instead of the intended icons (a robot torso for AI-generated, and a puzzle piece for Empty section). I see an old (2018–2019) note on the /doc page about amboxes showing differently on mobile, and I see a note in the talk page archives about them not showing at all before that, but I do not see any recent information about changes that would make amboxes show a completely wrong icon (two arrows) instead of either the correct icon or a generic "attention" or "information" icon. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:00, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Looks like gerrit:1127645 got the "icon-issue-severity-medium.svg" and "icon-issue-type-move.svg" images swapped. Anomie 16:13, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Wow, impressive detective work. I have submitted T419319. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:06, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
