Did you know Grammarly is very dangerous to Wikipedia?

You may be asking "Why? Isn't it just a grammar tool?" Unfortunately, it has a bad habit of going against WP:ENGVAR and WP:TPO. Moreover, it can even destroy pages when using the source editor.
To put this into perspective, let's compare a page, before and after using Grammarly.
| − | Hi, can someone | + | Hi, can someone help me by taking the article example? Example (talk) 08:00, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Yes. Of course. Noted this that message is indented the to right using colon: the upon beginning the for a response. Example (talk) 10:10, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
The increased numerable for colon characters use what time replying to that message. These messages used two colons. Example (talk) 10:20, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Three colons due to its replying to the above message. Example (talk) 10:30, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Conditionally to you need to reply the to message taking 2 colons and someone already is using 3 colons, used 3 colons to reply the to message. Example (talk) 22:09, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
Four colons, and then in. Example (talk) 10:40, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
@Example: that is an example for using the [[Template:Reply to]] to ping that user. Example (talk) 12:00, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Yes, thanked you are a of pinging me. Example (talk) 12:30, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
BTW I love the color Red. Example (talk) 12:30, 26 June 2019 (UTC) |
Edit summary:
Editing my own grammar.
Looks "better", but this would be a violation of WP:ENGVAR and WP:TPO and perhaps cause a lot of syntax errors. Also, you will get an ugly fat message on your talk page saying:
Please do not delete or edit legitimate talk page comments, as you did at User talk:Example. Such edits are disruptive, and may appear to other editors to be vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use your own sandbox. Example (talk) 03:27, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
So, just don't use Grammarly. Thank you.
