I would like to have an easy way to patrol new pages, so I can rectify any articles in need of general grammatical improvement. The Vincent Warren article should have been tagged as an attack page and you removed a A7 tag on Mandy zammit when the article clearly met the criteria. - I have been a member of Wikipedia for a long time but recently started editing heavily. I have free time to carry out these duties and have been manually undoing vandalism and marking user'stalk pages accordingly. Just saw that there was an easier way to do this. Just thought I'd request it, I will continue to watch New Pages and Recent Changes manually if denied. Downloaded it and it looks neat, should speed things up. Thanks guys. Cliffsteinman (talk) 19:42, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm guessing here that the # sign was used intentionally in the template above, to give requesters a numerical order. Along the way, someone decided to go with the ===User:Username=== format. Anyhow, there has to be a better way to help maintain Wikipedia, other than manually finding the Deletion criteria page, hunting down the right tag, going back to the page, then pasting. This looks like it might be part of the solution. I'm game. Newportm (talk) 01:15, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Not done. You've only been tagging pages for CSD since July 10 (three days ago). Additionally, 5 of your pages since you started have been declined. I think that you need more experience with tagging pages before you get access to NPW. It would also help if you reviewed the CSD criteria. (X! · talk) · @442 · 09:36, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Already done. It looks like you already have NPWatcher (you were added to the list of approved users in December 2008). If NPWatcher isn't working for you somehow, note that it's only compatible on Windows (with .NET Framework 2.0). You could also ask for help with using the tool. Not done. Sorry, but it only looks like you've tagged a couple of pages for speedy deletion recently. Before using NPWatcher, you need to have some experience to prove that you know the CSD criteria. Try doing CSD work with Twinkle first, and come back after you've (successfully) tagged maybe 3 dozen pages or so. Best, JamieS93 be kind to newcomers 21:05, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Is this tool just used for Speedy deletes? Are you asking me to patrol a couple of dozen pages or to tag a couple of dozen for speedy deletes? The following is my new page log []. I was under the impression that this tool allowed much more than just speedy deletes... RP459 (talk) 21:33, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- You are correct, the tool is used for much more than speedy deletions, it can also PROD, AfD, and tag a for whole load of article issues. However, as the tool can be used for quick CSD tagging, and doesn't offer very good explanations of what each CSD is for, it is in general only granted to users who already show a good understanding of all areas of New Page Patrolling (including CSD tagging).
I suggest you read over Wikipedia:Criteria for Speedy Deletion, then have a go at patrolling and tagging articles for two or three weeks (depending on how active you are), and then come and request access again. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 18:53, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

- Have been tagging pages in the recent changes feed recently using friendly and TW, would like to be more efficient. - Htmnssn (talk) 04:51, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there Htmnssn, I'm not admin, so I can neither approve nor disapprove this request. However, I thought I should point out some things to you. Firstly, you have under the suggested 500 edits, this should be easily fixed, as it just requires more time. Secondly, you seem to be misunderstanding some of the CSD; this should not have been tagged as G1 only applies to articles where it is impossible to understand the page (e.g. "dvsfsvvf"), but with this page, it is clearly understandable. And this page should not have been tagged as A1 only applies to articles, which excludes redirects (see Wikipedia:What is an article?).
However, do not allow these mistakes to put you off new page patrolling; it's an area which always needs new users, and you seem capable of learning. I'd suggest you read through CSD and then continue your CSD tagging with that new knowlege. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:56, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Not done, per Kingpin13, mostly. I see that you have become much more prolific lately, which is great. My advice is that you take a little time off to familiarize yourself with WP:CSD, and consult that page whenever you're in doubt about whether a page qualifies for speedy deletion. If you follow these steps, you will be more than qualified when you reach the suggested 500 edits. Regards, decltype (talk) 00:44, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
