Change "Calling code" to "Telephone country code"
editYet another proposal to replace the inappropriate "Religion" parameter
editHi, I propose yet again the removal of the "Religion" parameter from this infobox for several reasons. As most countries of the world do not collect religious affiliation statistics in their censuses at all. The various opinion polls and sample surveys (typically done by private corporations and non-profit organizations) that try to fill that exact gap often produce conflicting to uncertain results, leading to confusion rather than clarity. Additionally, religion can be a deeply personal and sometimes contentious subject, making it more appropriate for discussion in a separate article page rather than being summarized in this infobox. Removing it would improve accuracy and maintain neutrality. In its place I want to propose replacing the current mess of a system ("Religion" parameter showing a list with percentages of each religious group in the census or opinion survey) with a new system, originally suggested by user CMD. Instead "State religion" would be shown, in which is either the State Religion or "None", with the "None" could also redirect to the page about Secular state. So I would look like this: Saudi Arabia, State Religion Islam. While a country like France would look like this: France, State Religion None. It would be similar to what Encyclopedia Britannica for instance already uses. Wouldn't you agree? Belson 303 (talk) 14:02, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- A little soon isn't it? Wasn't it only October you made the same proposal? I'd just repeat what I said then:
- Oppose. The religion declared by people who live in a country is of far more relevance than the established religion of a state. For those countries that do not collect official religious statistics, just leave the field blank. Dgp4004 (talk) 15:50, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Explain, leaving the field blank. ~2026-12912-35 (talk) 03:41, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Support simply a section that can't be explained properly without prose text. You have so many places that suppress certain religions and the info box is misleading on what happens.Moxy🍁 17:55, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support per previous discussion. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:18, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

I propose adding native_name_lang parameter to infobox for embed languages, unlike other infoboxes that uses native_name_lang. Absolutiva 09:54, 28 April 2026 (UTC)

Can we please add an {{{admin_centre}}} parameter (along with {{{admin_centre_type}}} for Commonwealth English articles? 2600 etc (talk) 02:37, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

Request addition of ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code

It would be helpful to have the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code in the infobox. This is the code that is used by FIFA in the World Cup. For example, DOC is the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its 2 letter code (CD) is in the infobox. — ERcheck (talk) 18:09, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

- @Zackmann08 - Thanks. If consensus is reached for yes, I'll set "answered" to "no". — ERcheck (talk) 21:37, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Perfect. To be clear, while I personally oppose the addition, my rejection of the edit is that this type of edit requires discussion and consensus before it is implemented. If consensus goes the other way, not only do I not object to the change being made, I'll do it myself. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:49, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose - There is enough information in this Infobox, adding an obscure code, just because it is the one that FIFA uses is not a good enough reason to add more to this Infobox. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 20:17, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
Comment: FIFA was just used as an example of one organization that uses the code. Noted in the Wikipedia article, it is also "used most prominently in ISO/IEC 7501-1 for machine-readable passports, as standardized by the International Civil Aviation Organization...." — ERcheck (talk) 21:36, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
