This template converts GSS codes to political control for UK councils, including:

• England: London borough councils
• England: metropolitan district councils
• England: two-tier county councils
• England: two-tier district councils
• England: unitary authorities
• England: sui generis councils
• Scotland: councils
• Wales: principal councils
• Northern Ireland: district councils

This template does not include parish or community councils.

When updating this template, please also update Political make-up of local councils in the United Kingdom.

Usage

Councils are identified by passing a GSS code as a parameter.

Example one

E08000012 is the GSS code for Liverpool.

gives

Labour

Example two

W06000023 is the GSS code for Powys

gives

No overall control
