@Luxtaythe2nd: Hello, and welcome to DYK! Unfortunatly, this hook has some issues with WP:DYKINT, as a gas explosion being heard from a mile away is not an unusual/interesting fact. Similar incidents are common worldwide, and similar explosions are audible from significantly greater distances. Could there be a different hook you could propose instead? - @GGOTCC: Alright, here's a new one:

... that a living cat was found among debris—crushed twice by several floors of an apartment building—in the aftermath of the 1995 Gdańsk gas explosion? Source: "Oprócz zwłok kilku kolejnych ofiar katastrofy gdańskiego wieżowca ratownicy natrafili na żywe zwierzęta - kota [...]."

Note, the first time it was crushed it was because of the weight of the building collapsing onto the lower floors after the original gas explosion, and then the building collapsed straight down onto that debris again when the unsafe remnants were detonated. - Although I think the structure may imply that the cat was crushed... here's an alternative:

... that a living cat was found among debris which had been crushed twice by several floors of an apartment building as a result of the 1995 Gdańsk gas explosion? Source: "Oprócz zwłok kilku kolejnych ofiar katastrofy gdańskiego wieżowca ratownicy natrafili na żywe zwierzęta - kota [...]."

- @Luxtaythe2nd: Nice! I like this one a lot more. But perhaps the sentence could be a bit more direct, in my opinion, such as "...that after the 1995 Gdańsk gas explosion, a cat was rescued from the twice-collapsed rubble?"
- @GGOTCC: Sure, though maybe it somewhat underplays the fact that a whole, enormous apartment building crashed onto there twice. Like "...that after a building in Poland in 1995 was exploded twice, a surviving cat was found among the rubble?" Luxtaythe2nd (_{Talk to me...}) 22:34, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
