editSigurður Helgi Pálmason is an Icelandic politician representing the People's Party (Flokkur fólksins) and serving as a member of the Althing since 2024. Since 2026, he has served as a Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and as chair of Iceland's delegation to the Assembly.

editPálmason was elected to the Althing in the 2024 parliamentary election.
Since entering parliament, he has served on the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Environment and Communications Committee. He has also served on the Future Committee.
Pálmason serves as chairman of Þingvallanefnd, the parliamentary committee responsible for the governance of Þingvellir National Park.
In addition to his parliamentary duties in Iceland, Pálmason serves as chair of Iceland's delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). In 2026, he was elected one of the Vice-Presidents of PACE.
International activities
editPálmason has been a member of Iceland's delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 2025 and serves as chair of the Icelandic delegation.
As a Vice-President of PACE, he participates in the work of the Assembly's leadership and parliamentary cooperation among member states of the Council of Europe.
Through his work in PACE, he has participated in discussions concerning democracy, human rights, international security, the rule of law and European cooperation.
