Prod nomination
editI'm going to remove the proposed deletion tag from this article. The article obviously can be vastly improved, but I don't have the time to do that right now, and I believe that it already asserts notability of the subject. He's responsible for the construction of numerous developments, including large shopping malls and skyscrapers, and he used to own a major league baseball team. If you still feel that this person doesn't meet the notability guidelines, please take it to AFD. - EurekaLott 18:15, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm happy to leav the article for the time being, provided notablity can be established (although I musthave skimmed earlier, as ownership of a major sporting team is no doubt notable). Just as a matter of pedantry, {{prod}} is for when notability is not yet established - {{speedy}} is used when none is asserted or claimed. - Tiswas(t) 18:54, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Richard Jacobs (businessman) → Richard E. Jacobs – Seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME per , , , and most other sources I could find about the subject. A wing of the Cleveland Clinic named after him also includes the "E". Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 01:26, 13 August 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. - Weak support as per nom, but there are some uses of "Dick" and used without the middle name, but the majority of sources do include the middle initials. TiggerJay (talk) 04:00, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Strongly support You will find more articles on Wiki, newspapers, online stating Richard E. Jacobs, even his firm was the Richard E. Jacobs Group, and they have him in the Indians HOF as Richard E. Jacobs. User:Brotherbenz
- Oppose. He used his full name in formal situations, like the Cleveland Clinic naming, but if you want to cite WP:COMMONNAME, Dick Jacobs would be more appropriate. There's already another article at that title, though. Many reliable sources, like his Encyclopedia of Cleveland History entry and his obituary in The Plain Dealer refer to him as Richard Jacobs, without the middle initial. - Eureka Lott 01:21, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
More articles and sources showing him as Richard E. Jacobs "ESPN referred to him as Richard E. Jacobs when he passed" "Article in the New York Times with the middle initial about his passing" "Even The Plain Dealer has his middle initial" The article in Encyclopedia does show his middle initial "The obituary from the funeral home shows his middle initial as well" The article in Encyclopedia does show his middle initial: JACOBS, RICHARD E. - Support per nomination, TiggerJay and Brotherbenz. Since subject was indeed frequently referenced via the middle initial "E.", it would seem intuitive to be guided by WP:NATURALDAB. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 21:19, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Support enough sources use "E." Rgrds. --BX (talk) 16:08, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
