"Mrs Jack Brooksbank"?!

Are we stuck in the 50ies? Since when are women referred to by their husbands name anymore?? 78.55.75.134 (talk) 20:11, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

You may ask the same thing about the "Princess" part too. In any case, please do not pose the same question in two places. Surtsicna (talk) 20:23, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

As the article states, for better or worse that is how she is officially known in the court circular, and you may well find in some other official contexts. PatGallacher (talk) 20:59, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

See official royal family webpage - no mention of husbands surname. https://www.royal.uk/statement-princess-beatrice-and-princess-eugenie 202.7.202.202 (talk) 09:58, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
That statement is the only mention of Eugenie at that site? There's only just enough room to put "Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie"? Martinevans123 (talk) 10:21, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
See Princess Eugenie’s official Instagram. Doesn’t use her husband’s name. https://www.instagram.com/princesseugenie/ 202.7.202.202 (talk) 04:38, 15 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
See also bio of the Duke of York from the official royal website. Shows the names of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and their husbands listed separately. https://www.royal.uk/the-duke-of-york 202.7.202.202 (talk) 04:46, 15 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Those latter sources all date from 2018/19, immediately after Eugenie's marriage, and refer (where they claim any sort of official authority at all) to how the Court Circular then described her. But since then Elizabeth II has died, things have moved on, and Beatrice and Eugenie's activities are no longer listed in the Court Circular, so that's all really quite irrelevant. I'm slightly more persuaded by your "official list" (which from the url appears to date from Feb 2025); but – although I'm not questioning that it's genuine – it seems to be "Annex D" to some other rather obscure document relating to "marks", and I'm unable to find any route into it from www.royal.uk, so I'm not really convinced. The most authoritative source cited so far seems to be Eugenie's Instagram – no mention of her husband's name. GrindtXX (talk) 16:11, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's Annex D to the Lord Chamberlain's guidance at https://www.royal.uk/use-of-royal-arms. DrKay (talk) 18:55, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
They've not divorced, have they? Martinevans123 (talk) 16:19, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
No, no suggestion of that. I'm just saying that, on the evidence so far adduced, she currently seems to style herself, and be styled, "Princess Eugenie" pure and simple. GrindtXX (talk) 16:39, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
So what about "On her marriage, she was styled..."? Martinevans123 (talk) 16:54, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
That's fine by me, but I think this dispute is more about what we call her in the lede sentence. To my mind, "Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank" looks a bit clunky and distracting, and unless we have some really solid evidence that that's her official style, or how she's currently styled in reliable sources, it should probably be pruned. (On the other hand, I'm quite happy with the way the two titles are laid out in the infobox.) GrindtXX (talk) 19:54, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, there are three different instances to determine. Or perhaps there's some unwritten Wiki-Royal rule that they all have to be the same? Martinevans123 (talk) 20:37, 18 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
