KMSG-TV

As referred to in this edit summary, it is policy for the introduction to provide a concise overview of the article. This article has for many years described KMSG-TV as a significant part of the history and the infobox has always stated the start date of the KFRE-TV station as 1985, when it was called KMSG-TV. For many years, KMSG-TV was even bolded in the article body. A redirect for KMSG-TV was created and is targeted to this page. Therefore a brief statement of the station's previous call name was included in the introduction per WP:LEAD. Rather than just deleting with an accusation of edit warring, please provide a policy-based explanation for limiting the intro text. — CactusWriter ^(talk) 21:21, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

@CactusWriter We don't usually list prior call signs in paragraph 1, because that could cause bloat. Luckily this got my attention enough that I redid the article and expanded the lead section to summarize the lead. Most unimproved station pages do not do this. @User:Sammi Brie Thanks for restoring the information to the Lead. Your rewrite is great, as usual. And your point about creating too much clutter in the first paragraph is understandable -- so the information about the prior call sign is better further down in the introduction. I know we've discussed this briefly before: our core policy for editing any page (including station pages) is that it's a cumulative evolution of small improvements. Unimproved articles improve incrementally. Therefore text can be added without a requirement to edit to completion or perfection. By the way, the first instance of KMSG-TV can be bolded because it is a redirect to this page.
