Inability to remove tritium from the coolant water.

The reason why you can't remove the tritium from the water via the advanced liquid purification system (ALPS) like the other radionuclides is that the interactions of the water with the melted reactor fuel created them, and then they have become intrinsic parts of the water molecules. Therefore you can't actually separate the tritium atoms from the oxygen in the water. Furthermore, it's actually not that dangerous when you compare it to other tritium sources. Ah, is this in reference to the "vague" tag in the lead? On rereading that sentence I think that it's actually fine as it is and that the tag should be removed. The point about the tritium being part of the water molecule is mentioned in the aftermath section, and seems an unnecessarily technical detail for the lead section to me. According to the operator of the site, it is known as the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, not power plant.
