Free skate ranking
editWhy is Medvedeva ranked 1 and Zagitova ranked 2 in free skating, when their scores are identical? Shouldn't they both be ranked 1, since it is a tie. --Robert.Allen (talk) 06:23, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Figure skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Ladies' singles → Figure skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Women's singles – The International Skating Union's decision to rename the women's event (from "ladies' singles" to "women's singles") was retroactive. For example, all results at Olympics.com identify the women's event as "individual women". - SUPPORT, of course. This follows the WikiProject Figure Skating's Gender equality support policy. All figure skating articles should be changed to reflect the policy. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 17:45, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose. I honestly don't see a point in this.
1. "Ladies" sounds nicer.
2. It was "ladies" back in 2018 when the event took place, so "ladies" is true to the history and "encyclopedic".
3. Olympics.com is a very sloppy website. There is no knowing how much thought, if any, was put into creating the results pages. They are certainly a recent creation. Maybe they were created by an intern or by a third-party developer. --Moscow Connection (talk) 05:20, 4 June 2026 (UTC)- "Ladies sounds nicer"? "Lady" is an antiquated term in English. Per the WikiProject Figure Skating Gender equality support initiative, "the term "ladies" should be changed to "women" for a "fair and balanced portrayal" of men and women in all sports-related articles. This new policy applies to all articles within the scope of WikiProject Figure Skating, including competitions and disciplines prior to 2021." Bgsu98 (Talk) 09:59, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: I'm going to relist this because there's very little here in terms of PaG-based discussion here (and remember WP:OFFICIAL & WP:ADVICEPAGE) ⹃Maltazarian ᚾparleyinvestigateᛅ 02:26, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
