Ashtar (extraterrestrial being)Ashtar Sheran – Per WP:COMMONNAME. Svartner (talk) 19:40, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Support, if we're going to keep it on the "being". But most of the sources are about the UFO religion Ashtar Command, which was an actual group of people who believed she was real, which is more notable. Though this figure is famous enough it might be worth a whole other article, but the UFO religion is more notable. PARAKANYAA (talk) 16:28, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Adding images

edit

The portuguese page has an image for Ashtar, but the english page does not, someone should use that image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lord_Ashtar.png or the cropped version https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lord_Ashtar_cropped_portrait.png as an image that shows up in the info box The King471 (talk) 19:13, 22 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

@The King471: Since Ashtar is an entirely fictional being, one anonymous Wikipedia user's image of him is not particularly useful to the article. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:54, 22 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
There name is literally on the copyright for the image, and there many images of this character, its just that this specific one is already on Wikipedia, and since its on another article already, its probably up to Wikipedia's standards Rokenko (talk) 03:05, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Rokenko: Whose name is on the copyright for the image? And while there may be many images of this character, this particular image appears to have been created by an artist (Avital Shtapura) based on descriptions given by people who claim to have seen Ashtar. This is second-hand speculation, at best. (Of course, since claims of seeing Ashtar are just that - claims - no image can really be a likeness of this character.

the artist is on the copyright of the image, I just thought that an image of the supposed Ashtar could be useful/helpful for the page, maybe another depiction of Ashtar could be used, like one by Van Tassel, its just that Ashtar is very commonly showed with such a depiction.
(also im not trying to use false signitures, i had my username changed if thats what youre talking about, not trying to impersonate anyone) Rokenko (talk) 23:29, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Rokenko: I'm not sure what you mean when you say "the artist is on the copyright of the image". The image page at Commons does not claim copyright (nor could it, under Wikimedia Commons rules). The image page does list the name of the user who uploaded the image (Evedawn99), and attributes the image to an artist named Avital Shtapura. There is no indication who either of these people are, and what connection they have to any of the purported Ashtar sightings. I don't see that using one person's imagination of how another person's imaginary being appeared is really helpful. I've given my opinion; you've given yours. I suggest that we wait to see if others weigh in with their opinions on the matter. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:37, 24 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
MOS:IMAGEREL states "Images should look like what they are meant to illustrate, regardless of whether they are authentic." so the fact that there is no "real" likeness of Ashtar Sheran does not mean there can't be an image. Besides, sources on the article already commonly depict him with blonde hair and european features, so if the image is put on the article can't it state that this is what he is "commonly" depicted as?
