Infobox data (2)

The population estimate in the infobox data does not agree with the cited source. In the cited CSA population estimate of July 2023 (footnote 3), the population estimate is 3,945,000. This is more consonant with other statistical reports, such as the Labour Force and Migration report of 2021. I cannot find a solid data support for the five million figure that is cited by the Addis Ababa city office or global statistical estimate sites.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.129.251 (talk) 10:42, 4 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

The term "highly developed" links to an article about protests in the capital that resulted in 140 deaths. I'm not sure how that article in any way supports the idea of a "highly developed" city. Perhaps another article was intended? Maybe the intention was to discuss how Addis Ababa is overdeveloped? The article was about protests over the city expanding into farmland. "highly developed" and "overdeveloped" are not the same thing. "Highly developed" would refer to being technologically or socially developed maybe, but lots of buildings is "overdeveloped". I'm not a Wiki expert, so looking for some clarity on this. Xtempore (talk) 04:31, 4 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Addis Abeba being a federal city

edit

Having lived most of my life in Addis Ababa, I always understood that it was its own separate entity. Even on road trips outside the city, there were always those nostalgic “Welcome to Oromia” signs when leaving Addis Abeba.

Now I see that Addis is presented as the regional capital of Oromia instead of the former capital, Adama. I would like to know whether this is a recent change that I missed while living abroad, or if there is something wrong with this edit, because I’m not getting any coherent answers. Even on maps, Addis is usually shown as a separate dot, not as part of Oromia. I hope this can either be corrected or that I can get a clear explanation. ~2026-13091-7 (talk) 09:00, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
