Question of scope

edit

Doesn't this article's scope fall into the Military applications of artificial intelligence article? And how does it differ if not? Couldn't it simply be a subsection of the article? VitoxxMass (talk) 01:40, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think - Military applications of artificial intelligence are more broad. AI warfare is the actual lethal use of AI in war. The term AI warfare is now being used increasingly. So we should keep this article. This article could list the conflicts where AI is used and how it’s used.
In the military, AI could be used for everyday tasks, improving safety etc. But the use of AI in war is AI warfare. 🐈Cinaroot   03:42, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
On second thought - if this article cannot be fully developed - it can be merged with that article. 🐈Cinaroot   03:50, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I think it should me merged there. But the use of AI in warfare is not necessarily "lethal", at least directly. For example, it can be used for intelligence. My very best wishes (talk) 15:31, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
yes - but it is use of ai in war - which is a subset of other military applications 🐈Cinaroot   18:54, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Meaning that the use by armed forces during a peace or training, for example, would not be warfare? Maybe. Still, seems to be a merge I think. My very best wishes (talk) 19:15, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thats not War
War is an armed conflict between the armed forces of states, or between governmental forces and armed groups that are organized under a certain command structure and have the capacity to sustain military operations, or between such organized groups. 🐈Cinaroot   19:31, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, sure. I am just saying that the use of AI during a war (as you defined above) could be better placed to the page about Military applications of artificial intelligence. Probably. I have no strong opinion. My very best wishes (talk) 16:51, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don’t mind merging, but I’d like to see how this article develops as the Iran war is currently ongoing. Let’s wait for a few weeks. 🐈Cinaroot   17:24, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK. "the U.S. had used Maven against Ukraine" on this page is probably a mistake? My very best wishes (talk) 17:48, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
We can. I think article explains it nicely.
‘We want to use it for everything’: How Project Maven became central to America’s AI-powered warfare 🐈Cinaroot   23:09, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Interesting. More details: . The AI has been implemented already in certain autonomous weapon systems, which is a more familiar version from science fiction. I am sure some guys are working on creating the AI-driven self-replicating machine to initiate the necroevolution. My very best wishes (talk) 23:55, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
We already have AI robots in the works, and this article is already appearing at the top of search results. The scope of this article could focus on AI in warfare, covering:
a) how AI is used in warfare,
b) where it is used (specific conflicts),
c) what is used (technologies or companies or actors involved), and
d) the impact, including ethical and legal implications. 🐈Cinaroot   01:44, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I misunderstood your question. Yes, it was an error. 🐈Cinaroot   01:35, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
. Meanwhile, the 2026 Minab school attack had to be targeted by the Palantir's Maven ‌Smart System, based on the publications above, although we will never know ... My very best wishes (talk) 14:40, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'll try to work on it in the coming days.
There is another good source Omniscience, Omnipresence, and Omnipotence: Meet the Gods of AI Warfare
There is a lot of good info in there that we could use for this article. 🐈Cinaroot   04:46, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
