Hellenic Left Alignment (Greek: Ελληνική Αριστερή Συμπαράταξη, romanized: Ellinikí Aristerí Symparátaxi; ELAS) is a Greek political party founded in 2026 by former SYRIZA leader and former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.[3][4][5][6]

Ideology
editELAS, according to Tsipras, is built on “great progressive political and national traditions”.[7] The party is, according to Tsipras, "a coalition of the three historic movements of progressive politics that are an expression of the modern left: the radical left, social democracy and political ecology."[8] Greek patriotism is a central element of the party’s rhetoric. In September 2025, Tsipras emphasized the need for a “new patriotism.”[9] During the presentation of the founding declaration, Tsipras emphasized that the party’s colors represent the blue of the homeland and the red of social demands.[10] This “new patriotism” is expressed through demands for social justice, a patriotic tax on very high incomes, and a strong foreign policy.[11] [12]
