Summary

Description
English:
Coin tamgha on the reverse
Mechanical scan of a Turkish kagan on the Göktürk Coin between the 6th and 7th centuries. The iconography of the Wolves on the right and left of his throne, considered sacred by the Turks.
  • "Ch 22. “Unknown ruler of the 7th–8th centuries”.
Obverse: Image of a sitting ruler surrounded by a linear rim. The ruler sits with his legs crossed on a kind of zoomorphic throne or sofa, his head is turned to the right, his long straight hair falls behind his shoulders. In his raised left hand, the ruler holds an indeterminate object in the form of a stick with a bend at the bottom and a cross at the top, caught by the developing ribbons, perhaps this object is some kind of cold weapon or a religious attribute. The ruler wears a long, fitted kaftan with a wide right-hand opening. On the left, behind the ruler's back, is a vague, slightly distinguishable image of developing ribbons or flying Niki.
Reverse: Tamga within the frame of a Sogdian legend. Linear border (rim).
The legend is read from the inside of the coin mug. Presumably it repeats the legend of the previous version.

Farr "This is by far the most significant and complete work to date on the ancient coinage of Chach, the historical and cultural region surrounding the Tashkent oasis, from the 3rd – 8th centuries AD. The work is based on the examination of more than 2000 coins and incorporates information from ancient written sources, numismatic and historical investigations of modern scholars, and a wealth of data from coin finds...."
