This text logo image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “Voluntad-Popular-Activistas.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Exile Activism

Voluntad Popular continues to play a central role in Venezuelan opposition politics. The party and many of its members have faced political persecution from the Venezuelan government, forcing numerous activists, leaders, and coordinators into exile. From abroad, they remain committed to promoting democratic change and the restoration of freedom in Venezuela.

In April 2018, amid the massive exodus of Venezuelans, a group of Voluntad Popular members were forced to leave Venezuela seeking refuge and asylum in the United States. Determined to continue their legacy and commitment to democracy, they have remained active from exile. Since 2018, the group has served as a voice for Venezuelan families and political prisoners, advocating for freedom and human rights from abroad.

Based in Orlando, Florida, a team of exiled activists and coordinators continues the party’s organizational and advocacy work. The local leadership includes Ignacio Carrasquero – General Coordinator; Simón Teodoro – Political Coordinator; Solmir – Organizational Coordinator; Peter Ortega – Formational Coordinator; Rosnel Bertrand – Activism Coordinator; Susana Salvador – Communications and Technology Coordinator; René Solarte – Communications and Technology Coordinator; Alejandra – Attached Coordinator; Soladys Ramos – Attached Coordinator; and Luis Ramírez – International Coordinator of the United Platform USA.

The group has organized multiple public forums and events in collaboration with bipartisan U.S. officials, including Senator Rick Scott and Congressman Darren Soto. They supported the implementation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans in 2021 and have hosted forums featuring figures such as David Smolansky, former Venezuelan ambassador Carlos Vecchio, and, on July 29, 2023, party leader Freddy Superlano, who expressed support for María Corina Machado.

On October 15, 2025, the coordinators hosted a deeply moving event titled “Echoes of Silence”, featuring Aurora Superlano, wife of Freddy Superlano, and Lilian Tintori, wife of Leopoldo López, as keynote speakers. The forum focused on the ongoing human rights violations in Venezuela and the struggles of political prisoners and their families.

As of July 2024, Voluntad Popular continues to denounce political persecution in Venezuela, reporting that the Nicolás Maduro regime has continued detaining and disappearing opposition figures. The party notes that one of its leaders has been missing for over 15 months, with no official information or proof of life released by the authorities.

Despite adversity, the exiled members of Voluntad Popular reaffirm their unwavering commitment to the fight for democracy. They continue working tirelessly until Venezuela is free and all political prisoners are released.
