English: The original (former) State Seal of Burma adopted at independence contained the Burmese text ပြည်ထောင်စုမြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော် on the banner, which translates "Union of Burma", as well as three chinthe. Additionally, there was a circle surrounding the map of the country containing Verse 194 of the Buddhavagga in the Dhammapada in Pali: သမဂ္ဂါနံ တပေါ သုခေါ (samaggānaṃ tapo sukho), which translates to "happiness through harmony" or "well-being through unity."
မြန်မာဘာသာ: လွတ်လပ်ရေးရပြီးနောက် ပထမဆုံးအသုံးပြုခဲ့သည့် နိုင်ငံတော်တံဆိပ်ဟောင်းတွင်"ပြည်ထောင်စုသမတမြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်"ဟုပါရှိပြီးခြင်္သေ့၃ကောင်ပါဝင်သည်။မြန်မာပြည်မြေပုံကိုဝန်းရံထားသော စက်သွားပေါ်တွင် ဓမ္မပဒ အပိုဒ်ရေ ၁၉၄မှ"သမဂ္ဂါနံ တပေါ သုခေါ"ဟူသောစာသားပါရှိသည်။
