This engraving, produced by the Irish printmaker William Baillie (1723–1810) on 17 June 1774, is a nearly exact copy of the drawing made by the Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) in 1636. The name of this Siamese ambassador is unknown. He came from the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1351–1767). There is a Siamese ship in the background. This print promoted the collection of the drawing's owner, Mr. Willet. Physical Dimensions: 49.8 × 32.4 cm (19 5/8 × 12 3/4 in.). Type: Etching. Medium: Crayon manner etching. |
