Summary
| Description |
English: Shaft bracket from remains of demolished wheelhouse, gin-gang or horse engine house, probably used for threshing. The bracket hung by bolts from the roof-beam of the building, to support the drive shaft before it passed through the barn wall to operate machinery within the barn. The hole for the shaft is only 3-4 inches diameter, so this was quite a small machine. At the old Hudson's barn (now Willow Farm), at Burn Bridge, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. This gin gang was demolished as of November 2010, due to disrepair. It was understood that it was to be rebuilt as a wheelhouse, using the same stones. |
