English: Representation of Protocryptomonas ellipsoidea. It has several starch granules of varying sizes (six are shown in this image; it can have a maximum of 10 and a minimum of 5, although the original description by Skvortsov 1968 illustrates a specimen with only 3). The cell is elliptical. The primary flagellum is twice the length of the cell, and the secondary flagellum is 1.5 times the length. A contractile vacuole is present near the flagellar bases. In this illustration, the vestibulum, mitochondrion, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus are depicted with speculative shapes and sizes.
You can find another version of this resource on the blog. There you'll also find the references I used to create it, and the decisions I made for this image. The colors used in this image are for educational purposes and do not necessarily correspond to reality.
