English: US Navy PT-8 Underway in 1940. Experimental Motor Torpedo Boat with aluminum-hulled built by Philadelphia Navy Yard. Ordered, 23 June 1939, laid down, 29 December 1939, launched, 29 October 1940, placed in service with Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 1 as PT-8 25 February 1941, transferred to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 2 13 August 1941. Reclassified District Patrol Craft YP-110 14 October 1941. Assigned to Inshore Patrol, Fourth Naval District 1942. struck from the Naval Register, 10 January 1943, For salvage 1 February 1943. Hull retained at Philadelphia Navy Yard for tests and sold postwar. Sold on eBay June 2008
still in at Franklin, LA in 2010. Fate not known. |
