Description
English: In 1926 (Taisho 15), it was decided to commission a new building for the Prime Minister's Office on a site formerly occupied by the Nabeshima family’s mansion (which was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake). Construction began in 1927 (Showa 2), and was completed in 1929 (Showa 4). The old “Prime Minister’s Office” before this was situated around the current “House of Representatives Second Members’ Office Building”. This photograph was taken circa 1929 (Showa 4).
日本語: 「関東大震災」により大きな被害を受けた「鍋島邸」の敷地には、1926（大正15）年、中央官庁の震災復興計画を担った「中央諸官衙建築準備委員会」が「総理大臣（首相）官邸」（総理大臣が執務する建物）を建設することを決議、1927（昭和2）年に着工、1929（昭和4）年に竣工した。これ以前の「総理大臣官邸」は、現在の「衆議院第二議員会館」のあたりにあった。【画像は1929（昭和4）年頃】
