The annual Christmas window display at the Hudson's Bay Company's flagship downtown Toronto store. Founded by a Royal Charter signed by (English) King George II in 1670, Hudson's Bay Co. is North America's and one of the world's oldest business company still in existence. It had a monopoly to trap fur animals and to deal with the fur trade in the 17th century.
England also gave the company a large portion of North America (not that England at the time really had legal sovereignty over North America, but that's how things were at the time). As such, it was the very largest landowner in the world at the time. Check out the map via this Wikipedia link:

These days, Hudson's Bay is often just called "The Bay" in Canada and operates both discount and high-end department stores.
