English: This image represents the flag or personal banner of King Mahasena from the Anuradhapura Kingdom. It could have served as the state flag of the Sinhala kingdom or as Mahasena’s royal standard. Known in Sinhala as සෙවුල් කොඩිය (Sevul Kodiya), the flag features a rooster eating a snake, signifying the triumph of light over the deceiver. It also includes the sun and moon emblems, traditional royal insignias of Sinhala monarchs. The Sevula, will be the symbol of later princes descended by King Mahasena. The Sevula also represent the Sakya Clan but the word Sevula doesn't connect with the word Sakya directly. The design, discovered at the Kundasalé Temple in Kandy, has been refined in this version and prominently showcases the traditional Sinhala colors of maroon and white.
