Magicicada cassini (Fisher, 1851) - 17-year periodical cicada in Ohio, USA. (28 May 2016)

This is a newly-emerged adult 17-year periodical cicada (brood 5). Magicicada cassini is characterized by having a ventral abdominal surface that lacks orangish-colored transverse stripes and also has a black-colored area posterior and ventral to the eye.

Locality: Flint Ridge State Park, southeastern Licking County, east-central Ohio, USA
