English: FIGURE 1. P. atavus gen. et sp. nov. Holotype (ELI-EJ 048A/B) and the only known specimen of a new lower stem-euarthropod from the Chengjiang fauna of China preserved in a ventral view, revealing a distinct cephalic region with lateral projections and a circular ventral mouth and a trunk with eleven pairs of flap-like appendages, the photograph was taken using a VHX-1000, immersing the fossil in alcohol: (A,B) Part of a near-complete specimen (ELI-EJ 048) and interpretative drawing; (C,D) Counterpart (mirrored) and interpretative drawing. ce, cephalic region; cm, circular mouth; flp, flap-like projections; fu, furcae; ir, inner ring; lp, lateral projections; or, outer ring; pl, plates; tr, trunk; td, trunk demarcations (trunk segmentation).
