He was born September 1, 1883, in Bradford, Vermont. His father, John H. Watson, was a former chief justice of the Supreme Court of Vermont. He graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School. He came to Cleveland immediately after law school, joining the firm of M.B. and H.H. Johnson. He became the personal and corporate counsel to James W. Corrigan, and upon Corrigan's death was elected president of Corrigan, McKinney Steel. He served until 1935.
Watson continued to act as a corporate attorney for a wide range of business, including the Studebaker Corporation. He died in Cleveland on August 16, 1962, and was buried in Montpelier, Vermont.
