Summary

Description
English: Associated Press photograph of English author John Boynton Priestley as he arrived at New York in 1931. The associated text, also public domain for the same reason, is as such:

John Boynton Priestley, English novelist, snapped on his arrival in New York, Feb. 18, for a lecture tour of the country, "I have always avoided the United States," he said. "I sneered at her because she was too prosperous. Then I heard about the slump and decided to come over - and I no sooner stepped [?] on the ship than your stocks began to go up." He denied with some heat, that he was anything like Dickens, as reviewers have alleged.
