Summary

Description
English: A headset computer is a wearable personal computer that places a transparent near-eye OLED display in the user’s field of view, with adjustable brightness and transparency. The display module includes forward-facing cameras, an illumination light, and a microphone. The visor assembly can rotate upward over the head to move the screen out of view when not in use. The system uses a tethered pocket-PC for processing, battery power, wireless data, and I/O, connected by a USB-C cable routed under the user’s clothing, with audio delivered through a single-ear speaker. A smartphone can function as the primary pointing device by using its camera and flash for surface tracking and by interpreting taps and swipes on the touchscreen as mouse inputs, or could also be used as a trackpad. A future implementation could integrate a dedicated optical navigation sensor into the back of the phone to improve tracking resolution and responsiveness, using the small clearance naturally provided by many phone cases. The setup can be paired with compact portable keyboards that include protective covers with integrated batteries and can also be used with tablets such as iPads. The system would initially function primarily as a conventional personal computer, while augmented reality applications could be developed using the forward-facing cameras and onboard sensors.
