Description
English: In 1941 Inter-Island Airways introduced Douglas DC-3s to its fleet and changed the airline's name to Hawaiian Airlines. Douglas Aircraft Company personnel tasked with ferrying Hawaiian Airlines' new DC-3s from Oakland Field, Oakland, California, to John Rodgers Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, pose in front of the three aircraft at Douglas Aircraft Company's Santa Monica, California, plant, sometime before the flight on August 27, 1941. Aircraft are, front to back: Douglas DC-3 "Haleakala" (fleet no. 7), Douglas DC-3 "Waialeale" (fleet no. 8), and Douglas DC-3 "Mauna Loa" (r/n N33606).
