Description HMS MAIDSTONE, submarine depot ship, berthed in the harbour at the North African port of Algiers. Lying alongside are two famous submarines, SAFARI and SAHIB. So great were their successes against Axis shipping, that they were known as the "Old Firm" and "Foundation members" to the rest of the Royal Navy.
