English: Installation view of Goze Mokudon, a bench-shaped andon lantern incorporating transparent wood panels, installed under a gangi covered walkway in front of the Goze Museum Takada in Joetsu, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The lantern measures approximately 40 cm high, 100 cm long, and 38 cm wide. The panels express aspects of the life of Takada goze through pictorial panels made from transparent wood using sugi (Japanese cedar). The transparent wood panels are made from 3 mm-thick sugi, and some panels use colored transparent wood.
The photographs were taken by Yasunari Habara. The photographed work was created by students at Nagaoka Institute of Design. Permission has been obtained from the relevant rights holders to publish the photographs and the depicted work under CC BY-SA 4.0.
