File:Freaky Lagoon Nebula (green dominant SHO).jpg

Original file (5,120 × 2,880 pixels, file size: 8.31 MB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description
English: This is a Hubble palette (SHO) image of the Lagoon Nebula, roughly centered on the open cluster NGC 6530. Like all SHO images, emissions from singly ionized sulfur are red, hydrogen emissions are green, and doubly ionized oxygen emissions are blue. Unlike most SHO images, this one was processed without reduction of the green channel, better reflecting the abundance of H-alpha emission in the nebula.

This image was taken in two panels with equal integration time across panel in each channel. The Hourglass Nebula is visible to the far right of the image.

Mount: Sky-Watcher Wave 150i (strain wave German equatorial mount)

Telescope: Apertura CarbonStar RC8 (Ritchey–Chrétien telescope, 203 mm aperture, 1624 mm focal length, no reducer or flattener)

Camera: Touptek ATR533M (IMX533 monochrome sensor)

Filters:

  • Touptek 6.5 nm S (40×180s)
  • Touptek 6.5 nm H (30×180s)
