Summary

Description
English: Postwar Virginia State flag. Said to be memorial flag of the Richmond Grays, organized 1844, reorganized in 1859 for the John Brown Raid at Harper's Ferry, and again reorganized in 1871. According to one researcher, this flag is not believed to have belonged to the Richmond Grays, because both the organization and reorganization dates do not correspond with that unit. It belonged to another Virginia militia, but no match has been confirmed.
