Hinweise:

  • Vermutlich handelt es sich um einen truppeninternen Umbau einer Bf 109 E-3 auf den Rüststand des "Jabos" Bf 109 E-4/B mit ETC 500 für die Aufnahme einer 250kg Bombe. Grundlage dieser Annahme ist die gut erkennbare Kabinenhaube der Bf 109 E-1 bis E-3 mit einem abgerundeten Kabinendach. Kennzeichnend für die Baureihe E-4 bis E-7 war hingegen die kantig verstrebte Kabinenhaube mit einem ebenen Kabinendach, mit Verschiebemöglichkeiten der Fenster sowohl seitlich als auch oben. -
  • Gut zu erkennen ist hier das Mickey Mouse Emblem der 4.(Sch)/LG 2 als Staffelemblem auf der Motorhaube der Bf 109 E-3 (E-4/B). Es ist übrigens identisch mit dem persönlichen Emblem des Maj. Adolf Galland als Gruppenkommandeur der III./JG 26 vom 14. Juni bis 20. August 1940.

Notes:

  • This is probably an internal conversion of a Bf 109 E-3 to the armament standard of the ‘Jabo’ Bf 109 E-4/B with ETC 500 for carrying a 250 kg bomb. This assumption is based on the clearly recognisable ‘older’ canopy of the Bf 109 E-1 to E-3 with a rounded canopy roof. In contrast, the E-4 to E-7 series were characterised by an angularly braced canopy with a flat canopy roof (with windows that could be moved both sideways and upwards).
  • The ‘Mickey Mouse emblem’ of the 4th (Sch)/LG 2 is clearly visible here as the squadron emblem on the bonnet of the Bf 109 E-3 (E-4/B). Incidentally, it is identical to the personal emblem of Major Adolf Galland as group commander of III./JG 26 from 14 June to 20 August 1940. (Translated with DeepL.com (free version)).
