English: Cumulative number of earthquakes with a magnitude of 3.0 or larger in the central and eastern United States, 1973–2023. The long-term rate of approximately 29 earthquakes per year increased sharply starting around 2009. The increase has been attributed to induced seismicity

Le cluster central rouge au centre de la carte est une anomalie : dans cette région très peu sismique, depuis l’exploitation du gaz de schiste, l'Oklahoma qui a connu la plus forte augmentation d'activité sismique du pays depuis 2009 (séismes induits)
