Date of publication September 1989
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) i486
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) Not just an illustration of a particular 486, this popular issue of Byte brought one of the earliest machines using the 80486 chip, the Apricot VX FT, into wide knowledge in the United States, far from its place of production in the UK. It's also low-resolution and impossible to replace in this strictly limited role.
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
Few units of this computer were ever shipped, and the only other alternative images at this point in time are also copyrighted works from Apricot.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) Use of this file will be minimal because it will only be used once with a smaller image resolution than the printed work from which it is derived.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
The photograph will not be used in a manner that is likely to replace the original market role of the original copyrighted material.
Fair useFair use of copyrighted material in the context of i486//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Byte_magazine_September_1989_cover.pngtrue
