Blazon

  • Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a buff disc with gold rim and scarlet millrind spanning it vertically throughout with its tips extending outside the edge of the disc, between on the left a gold helmet of the type worn by the Praetorian Guard of ancient Rome, and on the right a gold tower.

Symbolism

  • The disc with gold rim represents the wheel, derived from the insignia of both Transportation and Quartermaster Corps, and is a symbol of the delivery of supplies. The millrind represents the production and supply of the necessities of life. The helmet represents the individual soldier's protection and needs, and the tower is traditionally associated with engineering. Gold is a symbol of excellence. Scarlet and buff refer respectively to the Corps of Engineers and the Quartermaster Corps.
