Summary

Description Figure S1 and S2 from Mura et al. (2026): M-band infrared image of Amaterasu Patera observed by the JIRAM instrument aboard NASA's Juno spacecraft during orbit 51 (2023 May 16, left). The hot peripheral ring and cooler central crust characteristic of an active lava lake are clearly visible. In orbit 55 (right) a resurfacing event may be the reason why there is no visible ring.
