This is the Mazda Familia, a small car, first introduced in 1963. Export models were Mazda 1000, 1200 and 1300. This, the second generation was built from 1967-77. Available in 2 or 4 door sedan, 2 door coupe, 2 door pickup and 3 and 5 door wagons. Originally with the 50hp 987cc engine from the earlier model, in 1971 they got either a 58hp 1169 or 69hp 1272cc OHC engine. In 1968 Mazda added a Familia Rotary model to the range, offered in both two-door coupé and four-door sedan variants. Sedan models were given an additional 'SS' nameplate, powered by a 982 cc 10A rotary engine, the coupé version was sold outside Japan as the 'Mazda R100'. The rotary engined R100 had a unique front end design, with a more prominent pointed hood, grille, and bumper. The rear with twin round tail lights, which became for a time a signature design element for the rotary engined versions of Mazda's cars
